What is Scar Massage Therapy?

Scar tissue can create tethering between skin, fascia and underlying structures. This may show up as pulling, tightness, sensitivity or numb patches; sometimes movement and posture adapt around it. With skilled scar massage we use soft tissue and myofascial techniques to help the tissues glide more freely. Over time, scars often feel flatter, softer and more mobile, with potential improvements in comfort and movement.

What to expect

You’ll complete a short consultation with full history taking and orthopaedic testing to review healing status and goals. We assess glide and movement around and away from the scar, then provide calm, precise hands-on work within your comfort range. Where helpful, we address related areas, such as ribs or hip flexors, and finish with personalised aftercare, which might include: self-massage tips, relevant exercises, breath work or lifestyle advice.
